Why the Loop Exists

Most organisations already run feedback programmes.

They send surveys, collate scores, and present findings to boards that nod and move on.

Then the work quietly stops.

The failure is not lack of data. It is lack of structure for what happens next. Research gets sold as a deliverable, not as a loop. Follow-through becomes nobody’s job. What Happens at Each Step

Before a single question is asked, the conditions for candour have to be right. Independence, brevity, clarity, and psychological safety are not nice-to-haves. They are the mechanism. This is where most feedback programmes fail before they begin.

Q&R is independent and says so explicitly, because it matters to the people being asked. Questions are written to invite honesty, not reassurance. Respondents are told what will happen with what they share.

A score tells you what. A story tells you why. Only the combination is actionable.

Q&R programmes are designed to surface both. Low-friction scoring is paired with prompts that give people the space to say the thing they actually mean. Written comments are treated as primary data, not decoration.

Suzuki GB ran three Pulse Check programmes over twelve months, surveying over 6,000 car buyers and prospects. The analysis showed a lack of appetite for certain marketing collateral. Suzuki acted, saving £150,000 on a programme cost of £7,800. That is 19.2:1, stated conservatively as 19:1.

Findings are not the product. Decisions are.

Proof back is not a communications flourish. It is the mechanism that makes the next round possible. When respondents are told what changed because they spoke, candour deepens and trust compounds. When they are not, they edit themselves the next time they are asked.

Proof back means telling the people who spoke what was heard, what was decided, and what changed. Where change was not possible, the reason is stated plainly. In repeat programmes, each new round begins by referencing what the last one produced.

What a Programme Looks Like End-to-End

A typical Q&R engagement runs as follows.

We begin with a scoping call to understand the question you are actually trying to answer, the audience, the sensitivities, and what a useful outcome looks like. We design the programme: question architecture, fieldwork approach, and the brief to respondents. Fieldwork runs independently. Results come back as scored data and written comments.

We interpret what comes back, apply benchmarks where relevant, and run a debrief structured around decisions, priorities, and owners. We support proof back so the loop closes properly.
